Beaver County Head Start is a federally-funded program

servicing low-income children since 1965.  It is a comprehensive child-development program servicing children ages 3-5 and their families designed to increase school readiness and develop their fullest potential.

Head Start offers full day (preschool & child care) or part day (preschool only) and provides all of the child's developmental requirements and enables children to learn how to interact with many different elements of their surroundings.

Research indicates that the program is a positive influence on the children's commitment to school and on their social skills.  Those whose progress has been followed since they have participated in Head Start usually remain in school, pass each grade, complete high school, and start college more often than their peers.

Head Start believes the best way to help a child succeed in life is to assist the family.
