PARENT ORIENTATION


Parents/guardians  will receive a letter inviting them to a Parent Orientation and for their child to have the screenings conducted.  During orientation, parents/guardians will be given the following forms and/or information:

Parent Calendar Handbook - This calendar is for the program year highlighting events, days when there is  school, policies of the program, etc.

 

Confidentiality Policy - This information informs parents/guardians of what the 

confidentiality policy is and asks each parent to sign this form. 

 

Confidentiality Statement - This form indicates the list of employee positions who have access to Head Start children's files.  A parent or guardian signature is required on this form.   

 

Publication Consent Form - Many times our Head Start classrooms are video taped,  recorded for training  purposes, photographed for newspaper and/or displays.  A parent signature is required for this form.

 

Transportation Consent - This form gives Head Start permission to transport the 

children to and from the center. Every parent/guardian is required to sign this form.

 

Bus Rules - Safety for both parents/guardians and children come first for us at Head Start.  Rules of the bus are listed on this  form.

 

Classroom Daily Schedule - Staff will review of the schedule the child will follow each day and a description of each of the curriculums used in our Head Start Classrooms.  

 

Parent Statement - This form is a reminder that teaching staff visit the home at least five times and other staff may visit with the family to be of service.  This form also reminds parents/guardians that Head Start aims to inform families of all Head Start activities. Parents/guardians are encouraged to read all information sent home with their child. 

 

Policy Council - A description of the policy council will be given to families, including: how to become a member, times and places meetings, and functions. of the policy council.  

 

Parent Committee - A description of this body, which consists of every parent and guardian at the center that each child is currently enrolled. 

 

Volunteer Forms - Parents are encouraged to volunteer in classroom whenever possible.   Head Start is required to have 20% of their funding in donation of services, times, etc. in order to receive funding from the government.  

 

Parent Advisory Committee - Membership consists of a parent representative from each classroom,  meetings are at least four times a year.  The Parent Advisory  makes recommendations to the Policy Council regarding parent and  child activities.
