POLICY COUNCIL


Membership

 

  51% must be represented by parents who have children currently 

  enrolled each program year.

 

  49% may represent persons from the community, community agencies

  and/or organizations.

 

  Parents or community representatives cannot serve on Policy Council 

   who have relatives employed by Head Start or Early Head Start.

 

Length of Membership

 

       Members may serve for 3 years.

 

Responsibilities

  • To fully understand the policies and procedures of Head Start, Early Head Start, Policy Council and program governance.

  • To understand the role of the Executive/Head Start Director.

  • To participate and support all Head Start Activities (workshops, fundraising,  parent activities, etc.).

  • To attend monthly meetings and any special meetings, as required.

  • Willing to serve on special committees (working committees, finance, personnel, etc.).

  • To maintain confidentiality in all matters of Head Start and have a signed   Confidentiality Statement on file.

  • Up to 4 past parents
